Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ghudayf bin Harith says that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) whether the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ghusl of janabah in the early part of the night or in the latter part of the night? She replied that sometimes in the early part and sometimes in the latter part.

Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that it is more appropriate to sleep before taking a bath (ghusl).

It is more appropriate to sleep after performing ghusl.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a need with any of his wives, he would fulfill that need and then sleep without touching water.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that when a man has intercourse with his wife and wishes to do it again, there is no harm in delaying the ghusl (ritual bath).
