What to Do if a Chicken or Mouse Falls into a Well
Hadith 659
٦٥٩ - حدثنا (أبو بكر) (١) قال: حدثنا وكيع قال حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن سبرة عن الشعبي: في دجاجة ماتت في بئر، قال: تعاد منها الصلاة وتغسل الثياب.
Hazrat Sha'bi says that if a chicken falls into a well and dies, the prayer will have to be repeated and the clothes will also be washed.
Hadith 660
٦٦٠ - حدثنا وكيع قال: نا سفيان عن أبي هاشم عن سعيد بن جبير قال: أقرأ عليَّ، (آية بغسل) (١) الثياب.
Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says: Recite before me the verse about washing clothes! (That is, it is not necessary to wash clothes if a chicken falls into a well.)
Hadith 661
٦٦١ - حدثنا وكيع قال: سمعت سفيان يقول: إذا استيقنت أنك توضأت وهي في البئر؛ فالثقة في غسل الثياب وإعادة الصلاة (١).
Hazrat Sufyan says that when you are certain that when you performed ablution, the chicken was in the well, then it is better that you wash your clothes and repeat the prayer.
