Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibrahim bin Abdullah narrates that once Hazrat Abu Hurairah ate pieces of butter, then performed ablution. After that, he asked, "Do you know why I performed ablution? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that when you eat anything that has been touched by fire, perform ablution." Hazrat Umar used to perform ablution after eating sugar.

Hazrat Abu Sufyan bin Mughira says that once I went to my maternal aunt Umm Habibah, she gave me a drink of sattu (barley flour mixed with water), then said, "O nephew! Perform ablution, because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that after using anything that has been touched by fire, perform ablution."

Hazrat Abu Sufyan bin Saeed Akhnasi says that once I went to my maternal aunt Umm Habibah, she gave me a drink made of roasted barley flour, then said, "O nephew! Perform ablution, because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that after using anything that has been touched by fire, perform ablution."

Once, Matir Al-Warraq was asked from whom Hasan Al-Basri took the narration that after consuming something cooked on fire, one should perform ablution. He replied that he took this narration from Hazrat Anas, who took it from Hazrat Abu Talha, and he took it from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Perform ablution after using anything that has been touched by fire.

Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit says that after using something that has been touched by fire, perform ablution.

Hazrat Abu Musa used to perform ablution after consuming something cooked on fire.

Hazrat Abu Qilabah says that once I went to the service of Hazrat Anas, but he was not present. I sat down and began to wait for him. When he returned, he was extremely angry and said, "I am coming from (Hajjaj), people ate food and got up to pray without performing ablution." I asked Hazrat Anas, "O Abu Hamzah! Did you not use to do this?" He replied, "We did not use to do this."

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) drank a drink made of sattu, then performed ablution.

Sulaiman narrates that Hazrat Anas, Abu Talha, Abu Musa, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), Zaid bin Thabit, and two wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution after eating something cooked on fire.

Hazrat Abu Qilabah used to instruct to perform ablution after eating something cooked on fire. On one occasion, he served nabidh to people, then called for water for ablution and made them perform ablution.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Perform ablution after eating dates, because there is sediment in them.

Hazrat Zuhri states that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), Abu Salamah, and Umar bin Abdul Aziz used to perform ablution after eating something cooked on fire. Hazrat Zuhri also used to do the same.

Another companion says that ablution will be performed after eating something cooked on fire.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Ibrahim says that I was with Hazrat Abu Hurairah, and he performed ablution on top of the mosque. I asked him the reason for the ablution, so he replied that he had eaten pieces of butter.

Hasan says that after using something that has been touched by fire, ablution (wudu) should be performed.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once people were with Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah. The people ate meat and tharid, then went outside and started praying without performing ablution. Hazrat Abu Mas’ud said, “Look at them! They are praying without ablution.”
