Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hasan Basri says that I saw Hazrat Usman, water for ablution was being poured on him from a jug.

Hazrat Azraq bin Qais says that I saw Hazrat Anas performing ablution in a basin.

Hazrat Jarir bin Hazim says that I saw Hazrat Ibn Sirin performing ablution with a copper vessel.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj says that I asked Hazrat Ata about the ruling of performing ablution with a copper vessel, so he said there is no harm in it. I said, "People consider it disliked." He said, "People dislike its smell."

Hazrat Abd Khair narrates that once during the Fajr prayer we were with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). When he finished the prayer with salam, he asked a servant to bring a basin of water and performed ablution with it. During ablution, he inserted his fingers into his ears and then said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform ablution in this manner."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Zaid narrates that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us, so we placed water for him in a copper vessel, and he performed ablution with it.

Hazrat Muawiyah says that I have been forbidden from performing ablution in a copper vessel.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) neither drank water from a copper vessel nor performed ablution with it.

Hazrat Muslim Abi Furwah narrates that I saw Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila performing ablution in the mosque using a basin.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Dinar narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) disliked copper and would not perform ablution with it.
