Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that I do not consider the water of Zamzam permissible in the mosque for one who bathes, but it is permissible for one who drinks and performs ablution, and it is a thing of cure.

Hazrat Salih bin Muslim says that I saw Hazrat Jubair bin Mut’im collect pebbles and then perform a complete ablution in the mosque.

Hazrat Atiyyah says that I saw Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) perform ablution in the mosque after urinating outside the mosque.

Ibrahim did not consider there to be any harm in performing ablution inside the mosque.

Hazrat Ata was asked about the ruling of performing ablution inside the mosque, so he replied that we used to perform ablution even in the most virtuous mosque, that is, Masjid al-Haram.

Sulaiman narrates that Hazrat Abu Majliz used to often teach the Qur'an in the mosque. Whenever the time for prayer came and he needed to perform ablution, he would perform ablution right there in the mosque. Someone asked him about the permissibility of this, so he replied that it is permissible.

Hazrat Ata says that there is no harm in performing ablution in the mosque, however, a person should not wash his private parts there.

Hazrat Abu Rawaad says that I saw Hazrat Ata and Hazrat Tawus performing ablution in Masjid Haram.

Hazrat Abu Alia says that I heard a companion saying that I have preserved this for you: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution in the mosque.

Hazrat Ibn Sirin considered performing ablution in the mosque to be undesirable.
