Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Salamah bin Qais narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you perform ablution, clean your nose as well, and when you perform istinja, use stones in odd numbers."

Hazrat Laqeet bin Sabrah narrates that I asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! Please tell me about ablution (wudu)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Perform ablution thoroughly and completely, and clean your nose well, but if you are fasting, do not exaggerate in cleaning your nose."

Hazrat Umar Anbari narrates that Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah once performed ablution but forgot to clean his nose. The boy had already taken away the ablution vessel. He said, "I forgot one command of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him." Then he called the boy back and put water into his nose twice.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Yazid narrates that Satan has a bottle in which there is something like powder. When people intend to pray, he blows it towards them. For this reason, it has been commanded to clean the nose.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "During ablution, clean your nose thoroughly two or three times."

Ibrahim says that the predecessors disliked that water be poured into the nose with such exaggeration as medicine is administered.

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ablution should also clean his nose, and whoever performs istinja should use stones in odd numbers."

Hazrat Ibn Sirin says that the Companions used to rinse their mouths, put water in their noses, and clean their noses.

Hazrat Mujahid says that cleaning the nose is a part of ablution (wudu).

Hazrat Mujahid says that cleaning the nose is half of purification.

Hazrat Alqamah narrates that I saw Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar performing ablution, in which he cleaned his nose twice.
