Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Humaid says that I saw Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) wiping both the outer and inner parts of the ears while performing ablution. I asked the reason for this, so he replied that Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to do the same.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the wiping of the ears in such a way that he wiped the inner parts of the ears with his index fingers and the outer parts of the ears with his thumbs.

Hazrat Nafi' states that Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) when performing ablution, would wipe the inner parts of the ears with his index fingers and the outer parts of the ears with his thumbs.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair and Ibrahim used to say regarding wiping of the ears that wipe both their inner and outer parts.

Hazrat Usman (who was among the slaves of Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair) narrates that I saw Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) wiping the outer parts of the ears during ablution.

Hazrat Abd Khair narrates that one day during the Fajr prayer we were with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). After completing the prayer, he asked for a vessel of water and performed ablution. During ablution, he inserted his fingers into his ears, then said to us: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing ablution in this manner.

Hazrat Aswad bin Yazid narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) performed ablution and wiped the outer and inner parts of his ears with his fingers.
