Hadith 9841
٩٨٤١ - حدثنا عبد الوهاب الثقفي عن حميد عن أنس قال: واصل النبي ﷺ فواصلنا فبلغ ذلك النبي ﷺ فقال: "لو أن الشهر مد لي لواصلت وصالًا يدع المتعمقون تعمقهم، إني لست مثلكم، إني أظل يطعمني ربي (ويسقيني) (١) " (٢).
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to observe continuous fasting (Saum Wisal). Upon this, we also started to observe continuous fasting. When the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of this, he said: If I wish, I can observe continuous fasting for a month, then those who are strict will abandon their strictness. I am not like you; my Lord gives me food and drink.
