Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would spend the night in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), then Hazrat Bilal would come and inform him of the prayer, so he would get up and perform ghusl (ritual bath). I would see water dripping from his blessed head. Then he would depart and I would hear his voice in the Fajr prayer. Then he would fast. Hazrat Mutarrif says that I asked Hazrat Amir, "Did this happen in Ramadan?" He replied, "Yes, this would happen in Ramadan and outside of Ramadan as well."
