Hadith 9725
٩٧٢٥ - حدثنا وكيع عن الأعمش عن أبي وائل قال: كنا (بخانقين) (١)، فأهللنا (هلال) (٢) رمضان، فمنا من صام ومنا من أفطر، فأتانا كتاب عمر أن الأهلة بعضها أكبر من بعض، فإذا رأيتم الهلال نهارًا فلا تفطروا إلا أن يشهد رجلان مسلمان أنهما أهلاه بالأمس (٣).
Hazrat Abu Wa'il says that we were at the place of Khanqin when a letter from Hazrat Umar came to us, in which it was written that some moons are bigger than others. When you see the moon during the day, do not break your fast until two Muslims testify that they saw the moon the previous day.
