Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Wa'il says that a man from Banu Bajilah, whose name was Nahik bin Sinan, came to Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud. He said, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! How do you recite this word—with ya or with alif, that is, do you recite { مِنْ مَائٍ غَیْرِ یَاسِنٍ } or { مِنْ مَائٍ غَیْرِ آسِنٍ }?" Hazrat Abdullah said to him, "Have you memorized and understood the entire Qur'an except for this place?" He replied, "I recite the Mufassal surahs in one rak'ah." Hazrat Abdullah said, "You recite the Qur'an thoughtlessly, just as poetry is recited! There are some people who recite the Qur'an, but the Qur'an does not go below their throats; the Qur'an will benefit only when it enters the heart and becomes firmly established. The best prayer is that in which the bowing and prostrations are many." Hazrat Abdullah also said, "I know those surahs which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite."
