Hadith 8867
٨٨٦٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن مسعر (عن الحكم) (١) (عن) (٢) ابن أبي ليلى عن كعب بن عجرة قال: قلنا يا رسول اللَّه قد علمنا السلام عليك فكيف الصلاة عليك؟ قال: "قولوا اللهم صل على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما (صليت) (٣) على إبراهيم وآل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد، وبارك على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما باركت على إبراهيم وآل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد" (٤).
Hazrat Ka'b bin Ujrah narrates that we asked, "O Messenger of Allah! We have learned how to send peace upon you, but how should we send blessings upon you? Please teach us." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Say these words: O Allah, send mercy upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent mercy upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious."
