Hadith 8796
٨٧٩٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: ثنا وكيع قال: ثنا الأعمش عن أبي وائل عن عبد اللَّه قال: تعاهدوا هذه المصاحف فلهي أشد تفصيا من صدور الرجال من النعم من (عقلها) (١) فلا يقول أحدكم: نسيت آية كيت (و) (٢) كيت قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: ["بل هو نُسّي" (٣) (٤).
Hazrat Abdullah says: Keep these manuscripts as a safeguard, because they slip from people's hearts faster than camels slip from their ropes. None of you should say, "I have forgotten such and such verse," because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has said that the Qur'an is made to be forgotten.
