Hazrat Hammad was asked about a person who sees wetness on his private part in the morning. He replied that if he remembers having a wet dream, he should perform ghusl, and if he does not remember, then ghusl is not obligatory. Hazrat Qatadah says that if the fluid came out with a spurt, he should perform ghusl. I asked Qatadah how he would know this. He replied that he can find out by smelling it. Hazrat Hakam says that he will not perform ghusl.
