Hadith 8492
٨٤٩٢ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا ابن عون عن رجاء بن حيوة (الكندي) (١) قال: كان ثابت بن السمط أو السمط بن ثابت (٢) في مسير في خوف، فحضرت الصلاة ⦗٢٩٧⦘ فصلوا ركبانا فنزل الأشتر فقال: ما له؟ قالوا: نزل فصلى، قال: ما له خالف، خولف (به) (٣).
Hazrat Raja bin Haywah says that Thabit bin Simt or Simt bin Thabit was in a battle when the time for prayer arrived. The people performed the prayer while mounted. Hazrat Ashtar dismounted and asked, "What did they do?" He was informed that they had dismounted and performed the prayer. Ashtar said, "Why did they oppose that which they were opposed for?"
