Hadith 6874
٦٨٧٤ - حدثنا حسين بن علي عن زائدة عن عبد اللَّه بن محمد (بن) (١) عقيل عن جابر بن عبد اللَّه قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ لأبي بكر: "متى توتر؟ " قال: من أول الليل (بعد) (٢) العتمة قبل أن أنام، (و) (٣) قال لعمر: "متى توتر؟ " قال: من آخر ⦗٤٦٩⦘ الليل، قال لأبي بكر: " (أخذت) (٤) (بالحزم) (٥) "، وقال لعمر: " (أخذت) (٦) بالقوة" (٧).
Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Hazrat Abu Bakr when he performed Witr. He replied that he performed it after Isha, before sleeping, in the early part of the night. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Hazrat Umar when he performed Witr. He replied that he performed it in the last part of the night. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Abu Bakr, "You act with caution," and to Hazrat Umar, "You act with strength."
