Hadith 6598
٦٥٩٨ - حدثنا هشيم قال: أخبرنا عبد الملك عن عطاء أن رجلًا صلى مع النبي ﷺ صلاة الصبح فلما قضى النبي الصلاة قام الرجل فصلى الركعتين فقال النبي ﷺ: "ما هاتان الركعتان"، فقال: يا رسول اللَّه جئت وأنت في الصلاة ولم أكن صليت الركعتين قبل الفجر (فكرهت) (١) أن أصليهما وأنت تصلي فلما قضيت الصلاة قمتُ فصليتُ الصلاة فضحك رسول اللَّه ﷺ (فلم) (٢) يأمره ولم ينهه (٣).
Hazrat Ata narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the Fajr prayer, and after the prayer, a man stood up and performed two rak‘ahs. The Prophet asked him, "What were these rak‘ahs?" He replied, "When I came to the mosque, you were leading the prayer. I had not performed the two Sunnah rak‘ahs before Fajr, and I did not wish to perform them while you were leading the prayer. When you completed the prayer, I then performed them." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled and neither forbade him from anything nor commanded him regarding anything.
