Hadith 535
٥٣٥ - حدثنا عفان قال: حدثنا عبيد اللَّه بن إياد قال، حدثني إياد عن سويد ابن سرحان عن المغيرة بن شعبة: أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ أكل طعاما، ثم أقيمت الصلاة وقد كان توضأ قبل ذلك، فأتيته بماء ليتوضأ، فانتهرني وقال: "وراءك ولو فعلت ذلك فعل الناس بعدي" (١).
Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah narrates that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate food, and meanwhile the time for prayer arrived. He was already in a state of ablution. I brought water for him to perform ablution, but he scolded me and said, “Stay back; if I perform ablution, then after me people will also start performing ablution.”
