Hadith 40742
٤٠٧٤٢ - حدثنا يحيى بن آدم قال: حدثنا يزيد بن عبد العزيز عن عمر بن (حسيل) (١) بن سعد بن حذيفة قال: حدثنا (حبيب) (٢) أبو الحسن (العبسي) (٣) عن ⦗٥٦٦⦘ أبي البختري قال: دخل رجل المسجد فقال: لا حكم إلا للَّه، (ثم قال آخر: لا حكم إلا للَّه، قال: فقال علي: لا حكم إلا للَّه) (٤)، ﴿إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَلَا يَسْتَخِفَّنَّكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يُوقِنُونَ﴾ [الروم: ٦٠]، فما تدرون ما يقول هؤلاء؟ يقولون: لا إمارة، أيها الناس، إنه لا يصلحكم إلا أمير: بر أو فاجر، قالوا: هذا البر قد عرفناه، فما بال الفاجر؟ فقال: يعمل (المؤمن) (٥) (ويملى) (٦) للفاجر، ويبلغ اللَّه الأجل، (وتأمن) (٧) سبلكم، (وتقوم) (٨) أسواقكم، (ويقسم) (٩) فيئكم ويجاهد عدوكم ويؤخذ (الضعيف) (١٠) من القوي -أو قال: من الشديد- منكم (١١).
Hazrat Abu Bakhtari narrates that a man entered the mosque and said, "There is no authority except that of Allah." Then another man stood up and said, "There is no authority except that of Allah." Upon hearing this, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "There is no authority except that of Allah. Surely, Allah's promise is true, and let not those who do not believe hold you in contempt. Do you know what these people are saying? They are saying that there is no leadership." O people! It is necessary for you to have a leader, whether he is righteous or sinful." The people asked, "We have seen a righteous leader, but what is a sinful one like?" Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "A believer acts (righteously), and a wicked person is given respite. Allah grants him time. Your roads are secure, your markets are established, your spoils of war are distributed, jihad is waged against your enemy, and the right of the weak is taken from the strong and given to him."
