Hadith 40733
٤٠٧٣٣ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر قال: حدثنا (عبد اللَّه) (١) بن الوليد عن عبيد بن الحسن قال: قالت الخوارج لعمر بن عبد العزيز: تريد أن تسير فينا بسيرة عمر بن الخطاب؟ فقال: ما لهم، قاتلهم اللَّه، واللَّه ما زدت أن أتخذ رسول اللَّه ﷺ إمامًا.
Hazrat Ubaid bin Hasan narrates that the Khawarij said to Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz, "We want you to deal with us as Hazrat Umar bin Khattab did." Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz replied, "What is wrong with them, may Allah destroy them! By Allah, I will not take anyone as a leader except the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him."
