Hadith 40726
٤٠٧٢٦ - حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا الأعمش عن عمرو بن مرة عن عبد اللَّه بن ⦗٥٥٦⦘ الحارث عن رجل من بني (نصر) (١) بن معاوية (قال) (٢): كنا عند علي (فذكروا) (٣) أهل النهر (فسبهم) (٤) رجل، فقال علي: لا تسبوهم، ولكن إن خرجوا على إمام عادل فقاتلوهم، وإن خرجوا على إمام جائر فلا تقاتلوهم، فإن لهم بذلك مقالًا (٥).
A man from Banu Nasr bin Muawiyah narrates that we were present with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when the mention of the Khawarij came up. A man cursed them, so Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do not curse them. If they rebel against a just Imam, then fight them, and if they rebel against an oppressive Imam, then do not fight them, because they have the right to speak.
