Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

A man from Banu Abd al-Qais narrates that I was with the Khawarij when I saw among them things that I did not like. Therefore, I decided to separate from them. I was still with a group of them when they saw a man, with a canal between him and them. They crossed the canal to catch that man and said, "Perhaps we have frightened you." He replied, "Yes, something like that." They asked, "Who are you?" The man said, "I am Abdullah bin Khabbab bin Aratt." They said, "You have a hadith which you narrate from your father." He replied, "Yes, my father narrated to me from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that a tribulation will come. In it, the one sitting will be better than the one standing, and the one standing will be better than the one walking. If you can be a servant of Allah who is killed, then be so, but do not be a servant of Allah who kills." Then those people took Abdullah bin Khabbab near the canal and beheaded him. I saw his blood flowing on the waves of the canal. Then they called a pregnant slave woman of Abdullah bin Khabbab and ripped open her belly.
