Hadith 40695
٤٠٦٩٥ - حدثنا ابن نمير قال: (حدثنا) (١) عبيد اللَّه بن عمر عن نافع قال: لما سمع ابن عمر (بنجدة) (٢) قد أقبل وأنه يزيد المدينة وأنه يسبي النساء ويقتل الولدان، قال: إذن لا ندعه و (ذاك) (٣)، وهمَّ بقتاله وحرض الناس، (فقيل) (٤) له: إن الناس لا يقاتلون معك، ونخاف أن (تترك) (٥) وحدك، فتركه (٦).
Hazrat Nafi' narrates that when Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) heard about Najdah—that he was coming to Madinah, taking women captive, and killing children—Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "We cannot allow him to do this." Then he intended to fight against him and encouraged people to do so. It was said to him that people would not be ready to fight along with him and there was a fear that he would be left alone. After that, Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) abandoned the intention to confront him.
