Hadith 40679
٤٠٦٧٩ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن شقيق أبي وائل قال: قال سهل ابن حنيف يوم صفين: أيها الناس اتهموا رأيكم، فإنه واللَّه ما وضعنا سيوفنا على عواتقنا مع رسول اللَّه ﷺ لأمر (يفظعنا) (١) إلا أسهلن بنا إلى أمر (نعرفه) (٢) غير هذا (٣).
Hazrat Sahl bin Hunaif said to the people during the Battle of Siffin: O people! Do not consider your opinion to be certain. In the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), it was always easy for us to understand the reality of matters, but in this matter, we cannot make any definite decision.
