Hadith 4050
٤٠٥٠ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا (عبد اللَّه) (١) بن نمير عن عبيد اللَّه بن عمر عن محمد بن إبراهيم عن أبي سلمة قال: صلى عمر المغرب فلم يقرأ، فلما انصرف قال له الناس: إنك لم تقرأ. قال: فكيف كان الركوع والسجود تام هو؟ قالوا: نعم، فقال: لا بأس إني حدثت نفسي (بعير) (٢) جهزتها بأقتابها (وحقائبها) (٣) (٤).
Hazrat Abu Salamah narrates that Hazrat Umar performed the Maghrib prayer but did not recite (Qira'at) in it. When he finished the prayer, the people said to him, "You did not recite (Qira'at)!" Hazrat Umar asked them, "How were the bowing (ruku) and prostration (sajdah)? Were they complete?" The people replied, "Yes." Hazrat Umar said, "Then there is no harm. I was thinking in my heart about the preparation of an army."
