Narrated by Hazrat Fatimah bint Qais: She said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came one day at noon and led the prayer, then sat on the pulpit. The people stood up, and he said: O people! Sit down. Surely, I did not stand here out of desire or fear. And he said this because he had not previously sat on the pulpit at that hour. But Tamim Dari came to me and told me such news that its joy and the coolness of my eyes prevented me from taking a nap. I wished to tell you Tamim’s news in your presence. He told me that a group of his paternal cousins traveled by sea. A strong wind struck them, and that wind cast them onto an island which they did not recognize. So they boarded the nearest boats and set out towards the island. There, they came upon a black creature that was very hairy. They could not discern whether it was a man or a woman. They said to it: Will you not tell us? It replied: I will not tell you, nor will I ask you about anything. But there is a monastery near which you are, and in it is a man who is eager to tell you about yourselves and to ask you questions. They asked it: What is this thing? It said: I am a spy. They went out and reached the monastery. They sought permission to enter, and he granted it. There, they found an old man bound in heavy shackles. He was expressing sorrow and complaining a lot. They greeted him with salam, and he responded to their salam and asked: Where have you come from? They said: From Sham (Syria). He asked: Of which people are you? They said: Of the Arabs. He asked: What is the condition of the Arabs? Has their Prophet appeared? They said: Yes. He asked: What have the Arabs done? They told him that a people had opposed them, but Allah gave them victory over them, and now they are all united. He said: That is good. And it was also mentioned that the Arabs have believed in him, followed him, and affirmed him. He said: That is better for them. Then he asked: What is the condition of the spring of Zughar? They replied: It is good; the people there drink from it when thirsty and irrigate their crops with it. He asked: What is the condition of the dates of Amman and Baisan? They replied: They yield fruit throughout the year. He asked: What is the condition of the Sea of Tiberias? They said: It is full, and due to the abundance of water, its banks are overflowing. The narrator said: He took a deep breath, then another deep breath, then another deep breath, then he swore an oath and said: If I am released, or he said: If I escape from these shackles, or he said: From this place, I will not leave any land except that I will trample it with these two feet of mine, except for Taybah (Madina Munawwarah). I will have no path or authority over it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This is the height of my happiness. This is Taybah, and by the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), this is Taybah. Allah has made my sanctuary forbidden for Dajjal to enter. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) swore an oath and said: There is no narrow or wide path, soft ground or mountain in (Taybah) except that upon it is an angel with a drawn sword, appointed until the Day of Resurrection. Dajjal does not have the power to enter Madinah. Mujahid says that Amir informed me, saying: I narrated this hadith before Qasim bin Muhammad. Qasim said: I bear witness upon Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she narrated this hadith to me, except that she said: Both sanctuaries are forbidden to him—Makkah and Madinah. Amir said: I met Muharrar bin Abi Hurairah. I narrated to him the narration of Fatimah bint Qais. He said: I bear witness about my father (Hazrat Abu Hurairah) that he narrated to me just as Fatimah narrated to you, not omitting a single word, except that my father added one thing: He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lowered his hand toward the east about twenty times; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lowered his hand downward.
