Hadith 40216
٤٠٢١٦ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن شقيق عن شريح قال: ما أخبرت ولا استخبرت (مذ) (١) كانت الفتنة، قال له مسروق: لو كنت مثلك لسرني أن أكون قد مت، (قال) (٢) شريح: فكيف بأكثر من ذلك: ما في الصدور؟ و (تلتقي) (٣) الفئتان و (إحداهما) (٤) أحب إلي من الآخرى.
It is narrated from Hazrat Shurayh that he said: Since the turmoil began, neither did I inform about it nor was I asked about it. Masruq said to him: If I were in your place, I would have preferred to die. Shurayh said to him: What will be your condition at that time when the turmoil increases even more? There will be a fight between two groups, and one of them will be more beloved to me than the other.
