Hadith 40173
٤٠١٧٣ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن (زيد) (١) بن وهب قال: مات رجل من المنافقين فلم يصل عليه حذيفة، فقال له عمر: أمن القوم هو؟ قال: ⦗٢٩٥⦘ نعم، فقال له عمر: باللَّه منهم أنا؟ قال: (لا) (٢)، (ولن) (٣) أخبر به أحدا بعدك (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Wahb that he said: One of the hypocrites died, and Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) did not perform his funeral prayer. Hazrat Umar asked him, "Is he among the hypocrites?" He replied, "Yes!" Hazrat Umar then asked him, "For the sake of Allah, tell me, am I among the hypocrites?" He replied, "No, and I will never inform anyone about this in the future (as to who is a hypocrite and who is not)."
