Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Khallaf bin Khalifah narrates from his father Hazrat Khalifah that he said: I was informed that when Hajjaj intended to kill Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair, he took him towards Mina and hanged him near the pass in the valley. Then he saw Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) who came riding on his mule. He was bringing it close to the trunk, but it was shying away. He said to his servant: Woe to you, hold its reins and bring it closer. The narrator says he brought the mule closer. Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar stopped and was saying: May Allah have mercy on you, you were one who fasted and stood in prayer. That nation has attained success whose evil is you.
