Hadith 40092
٤٠٠٩٢ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن إبراهيم بن ميسرة عن طاوس قال: ذكرت الأمراء عند ابن عباس (فابترك) (١) فيهم رجل فتطاول حتى (ما أرى) (٢) في البيت أطول منه، فسمعت ابن عباس يقول: لا تجعل نفسك فتنة للقوم الظالمين، فتقاصر حتى ما أرى في البيت أقصر منه (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Tawoos that he said: The rulers were mentioned in the presence of Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). One of them sat on his knees for battle; he raised his head so much that I had not seen anyone taller than him in the house. Hazrat Tawoos says: I heard Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) saying, "Do not make yourself a trial for the oppressing people." So he lowered himself until I could not see anyone smaller than him in the house.
