Hadith 40072
٤٠٠٧٢ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن شقيق عن حذيفة قال: كنا مع النبي ﷺ (فقال) (١): "أحصوا كل من (تلفظ) (٢) بالإسلام"، قال: قلنا: يا رسول اللَّه! تخاف علينا ونحن ما بين الستمائة إلى السبعمائة؟ فقال: "إنكم (لا تدرون) (٣) لعلكم إن تبتلوا"، قال: فابتلينا حتى جعل الرجل منا ما يصلي (إلا سرًا) (٤) (٥).
It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: Count everyone who professes Islam. Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We submitted, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), do you fear for us while we are between six hundred and seven hundred? He said: Certainly, you do not know; perhaps you will be tested. The narrator says: We were tested to the extent that none of us could pray except in secret.
