Hadith 40052
٤٠٠٥٢ - حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن علي بن مدرك قال: سمعت أبا صالح قال: (قاعدنا) (١) رجل من أصحاب النبي ﷺ (٢) يوم الجرعة، قال: وكان عثمان ⦗٢٤٦⦘ ابن عفان قد بعث سعيد بن العاص على الكوفة، قال: فخرج أهل الكوفة فأدركوه، قال: فقال رجل من القوم: أنا على السنة، فقال: لستم على السنة حتى يشفق الراعي وتنصح الرعية (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Salih that he said: On the day of Jara‘ah, one of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat with us. The narrator said: Hazrat Uthman bin Affan had sent Hazrat Sa‘id bin ‘As as the governor over Kufa (and the people of Kufa had rejected his governorship). The people of Kufa came out and found that companion. He said: One of them (in front of that companion) said, "We are upon the Sunnah." That companion said: "You are not upon the Sunnah until the rulers and supervisors show kindness and the subjects show goodwill."
