Hadith 40044
٤٠٠٤٤ - حدثنا أبو الأحوص (عن سماك) (١) عن علقمة بن وائل قال: قام سلمة الجعفي إلى رسول اللَّه ﷺ فقال: يا رسول اللَّه أرأيت إن كان علينا من بعدك قوم يأخذوننا بالحق ويمنعون حق اللَّه، قال: فلم يجبه (النبي ﵊ (٢) بشيء، قال: ثم قام الثانية فلم يجبه النبي ﷺ بشيء، ثم قام الثالثة، فقال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: " (عليهم ما حملوا وعليكم ما حملتم) (٣) فاسمعوا لهم وأطيعوا" (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Alqamah bin Wa'il that he said: Hazrat Salamah Ju'fi stood up in the gathering of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), tell me, if after you there are people over us who take our rights from us and withhold the right of Allah, what should we do?" You did not give any answer to them. The narrator says, then he stood up a second time, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not answer. Then he stood up a third time, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are responsible for what burden they have been made to bear, and you are responsible for what burden you have been made to bear. So listen to them and obey."
