It is narrated from Hazrat Kathir bin Numr that he said: A man brought some people to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "I saw them running away after threatening you, and I caught this one." Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Should I kill a person who has not killed me?" The man said, "He spoke ill of you." So Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Speak ill of him in return or let him go."
