Hadith 39980
٣٩٩٨٠ - حدثنا عفان وأسود بن عامر قالا: أخبرنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي ⦗٢٢٣⦘ ابن زيد عن أبي (عثمان) (١) عن خالد بن (عرفطة) (٢) عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال: "يا خالد إنها ستكون أحداث واختلاف" -وقال عفان: وفرقة- "فإذا كان ذلك فإن استطعت أن تكون المقتول لا القاتل"، قال عفان: فافعل (٣).
Hazrat Khalid bin Urfatah narrates from the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: O Khalid, indeed, in the future there will be new things and differences. The narrator Affan says: He also said, and there will be separation, that is, division. So when this happens, if you are able, then be the one who is killed, not the killer (Affan the narrator reports), then do so.
