It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Wahb that on the day of Jar‘ah, when it was said to Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Why do you not go out with the people?" Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "What thing would make me go out with them when I know that, even among themselves, they have not shed as much blood as is drawn by cupping? And many things have been mentioned regarding Jar‘ah. I do not like that, in exchange for them... I should get the things that are in your house. Surely, the trial looks towards the person who raises his head to look at the trial." (The day of Jar‘ah refers to the day when the people of Kufa went out to visit Hazrat Sa‘d bin Abi Waqqas, and Hazrat Uthman appointed him as governor, then appointed Hazrat Abu Musa Ash‘ari as governor.)
