It is narrated from Hazrat Umar that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage: "On which day have I put on the Ihram?" He asked this question three times. The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) replied, "On the day of Hajj." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred to one another, just as the sanctity of this day (i.e., the day of Arafah), in this month, in this city. Beware, let not anyone commit a crime, and if anyone commits a crime, it is only against himself. Let not a father commit excess against his child, nor a child against his father. Beware, O my Ummah, have I conveyed (the message)?" The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Allah, bear witness." He said this three times.
