Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Khursha that Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the mosque and passed by some people among whom some were teaching the Qur'an to others. So Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you are established upon the correct way, then you have surpassed greatly, and if you have abandoned it, then you have gone astray. The narrator says: Then he sat in a circle and said: Indeed, we believed before we learned to recite the Qur'an, and in the future, some people will recite the Qur'an before believing. One of the people said: Will this be a trial (fitnah)? He replied: Yes, it will come to you from the direction that will grieve you, and then it will continue to come like a rash (slowly and persistently). Indeed, a man will turn away from it and command two things: one of them is humility, and the other is immorality and wickedness. Hazrat Khursha says: Not long after this, I saw a man who had taken up his sword and was chasing after people.
