Hadith 39753
٣٩٧٥٣ - حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ كان قطع بعثا قبل مؤتة وأمر عليهم أسامة بن زيد، وفي ذلك (البعث) (١) أبو بكر وعمر قال: [فكان أناس من الناس يطعنون في ذلك لتأمير رسول اللَّه ﷺ أسامة عليهم (قال) (٢)] (٣): فقام رسول اللَّه ﷺ فخطب الناس ثم قال: "إن أناسا منكم قد طعنوا علي في تأمير أسامة، وإنما طعنوا في تأمير (أسامة) (٤) كما طعنوا في تأمير أبيه من قبله، وأيم اللَّه إن كان (لحقيقًا) (٥) للإمارة، وإن كان (لمن) (٦) أحب الناس إلي، وإن ابنه من أحب الناس إلي من بعده، وإني أرجو أن يكون من صالحيكم، فاستوصوا به خيرًا" (٧).
Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father that the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent an army towards Mu'tah and appointed Hazrat Usama bin Zaid as their commander. Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar were also in this army... The narrator says: Some people objected to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointing Hazrat Usama as the commander over the army. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and delivered a sermon to the people and said: "Indeed, some of you are objecting to my appointing Usama as commander. These people object to Usama's appointment just as they previously objected to his father's appointment as commander. By Allah! Surely, he was worthy of being appointed commander and was the most beloved to me among the people. And his son, after him, is the most beloved to me among the people. I hope that he will be among the righteous people among you. You should intend good for him."
