It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah, and when he entered Makkah, he had the end of a black turban draped over his face. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Tawaf of the House of Allah on his she-camel Qaswa, and in his hand was a curved staff with which he was touching the corners (of the Ka'bah). The narrator says: Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: We did not find a place in the mosque to make the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) camel sit, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted onto the hands of the people. Then his camel was taken outside and made to sit in the valley. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood on his feet and delivered a sermon. He praised Allah and mentioned such praise as He is worthy of, and said:
2. O people! Indeed, Allah has removed from you the pride and arrogance of the Age of Ignorance, and the boasting about ancestors of the Age of Ignorance. (Now) people are of two kinds: a righteous, pious man who is honorable and esteemed by Allah, and a disbelieving, wretched man who is insignificant and worthless before Allah. O people! Surely Allah, the Exalted, has said: O mankind! Indeed, We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes so that you may recognize one another. Indeed, the most honorable of you in the sight of Allah is the most pious of you. Surely, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware. I say this and seek forgiveness from Allah for myself and for you.
3. The narrator says: Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) walked to one side of the mosque. A bucket of Zamzam water was brought to him, and he washed his blessed face with it. Every drop of the water that fell from his washing landed in a human hand. If the drop was enough to be drunk, the person would drink it, otherwise he would rub it on himself. The polytheists of Makkah were watching this scene, and they said: We have never seen a kingship greater than what we have seen today, nor have we seen a people more foolish than the people we have seen today.
4. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Hazrat Bilal, so he climbed to the roof of the Ka'bah and gave the call to prayer. The Muslims stood up, wearing only their waistcloths, took up buckets, and went to Zamzam reciting poetry. They washed the Ka'bah inside and out, leaving no trace of the polytheists in the Ka'bah, but rather erased or washed it away.
