It is narrated from Hazrat Anas that the Quraysh made a treaty with the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and among those making the treaty was Suhail bin Amr. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him: Write! "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful." Suhail said, "We do not know this 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.' What is this? Rather, write what we know: 'In Your name, O Allah.'" Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Write! "From Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah." They said, "If we accepted you as the Messenger of Allah, we would have followed you. Rather, write your name and your father's name." Upon this, the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Write! "From Muhammad, son of Abdullah." Then the polytheists of Quraysh set this condition upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that whoever from among you comes to us, we will not return him to you. And whoever from among us comes to you, you will return him to us. The Companions said, "O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! Will this also be written?" He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Yes! Whoever from among us goes to them, Allah will distance him. And whoever from among them comes to us, Allah the Exalted will create for him a way and an exit.
