Hadith 39371
٣٩٣٧١ - حدثنا عفان قال: حدثنا شعبة عن أبي إسحاق قال: سمعت البراء يقول: أول من قدم علينا من أصحاب رسول اللَّه ﷺ مصعب بن عمير وابن أم مكتوم، فجعلا يقرئان الناس القرآن، ثم جاء عمار وبلال وسعد، ثم جاء عمر بن الخطاب في عشرين راكبا، ثم جاء رسول اللَّه ﷺ، (قال) (١): فما رأيت أهل المدينة فرحوا بشيء قط فرحهم به، قال: فما قدم حتى قرأت: ﴿سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى﴾ في (سور) (٢) من المفصل (٣).
Hazrat Abu Ishaq narrates that I heard Hazrat Bara’ say: The first among the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to come to us were Mus‘ab bin ‘Umair and Ibn Umm Maktum, and both of them began teaching people the Qur’an. Then Hazrat ‘Ammar, Bilal, and Sa‘d arrived, and then Hazrat ‘Umar bin Khattab came with a group of twenty horsemen. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself arrived. The narrator says: I have never seen the people of Madinah happier about anything than this. Bara’ says: (At that time) not a single companion had yet arrived, and I had already recited the detailed surahs among the { سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّکَ الأَعْلَی }.
