Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ir bin Ishaq narrates that in the Battle of Badr, it was first said to the believers that you should also mark yourselves, because on this day the angels have also marked and identified themselves. So that was the first day when wool was used as a sign.
