Hazrat Humaid bin Hilal says that Hazrat Alaa bin Hadhrami sent eight hundred thousand dirhams from the tribute of Bahrain to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. This was the first tribute that was brought to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He ordered that the wealth be spread out on a mat in the mosque. The muezzin gave the call to prayer and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, led the prayer. Then he came to the wealth and stood by it; he did not give to anyone who remained silent, nor did he deprive anyone who asked. A man would come and say, "Give me," and he would say to him, "Take a handful." Then another man would come and say, "Give me," and he would say to him, "Take two handfuls." Then another man would come and say, "Give me," and he would say to him, "Take three handfuls." Meanwhile, Hazrat Abbas came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Give me some of this wealth. I paid the ransom for myself and Aqeel at the Battle of Badr, while Aqeel had no wealth." Then Hazrat Abbas began to fill the wealth into his cloak. After filling it, when he tried to lift it, he could not. He said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please have it loaded onto me." The Prophet looked at him and laughed so much that his blessed teeth became visible. He said to him, "Reduce the amount and take as much as you can carry." When Hazrat Abbas left, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Allah Almighty has fulfilled one of the two things He promised us, and we are waiting for the second." Then he recited this verse of the Holy Qur'an { یَا أَیُّہَا النَّبِیُّ قُلْ لِمَنْ فِی أَیْدِیکُمْ مِنَ الأَسْرَی إنْ یَعْلَمِ اللَّہُ فِی قُلُوبِکُمْ خَیْرًا } Allah Almighty has fulfilled this, and we are waiting for the fulfillment of the second matter.
