Hazrat Mujahid narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, met a people among whom a camel driver was singing a hadī, but when they saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he became silent. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked, "Who are these people?" He was told that they were from the tribe of Qilah Mudar. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "I am also from Mudar." Then he asked, "Why did your camel driver become silent?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah! Among the Arabs, we are the first to sing the hadī." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked, "How is that?" They said, "A man from our tribe was away from his camels during the spring season. He sent his slave to fetch the camels, but the slave delayed. Then the man himself came and began to strike the slave's hand with a stick. The slave started walking, saying, 'Waidaah! Waidaah!' (Oh my hand, oh my hand). Hearing this phrase, the camels began to move quickly and became lively. The man said, 'Keep saying this, keep saying this.' After that, the practice of hadī became common among the people."
