Hadith 38480
٣٨٤٨٠ - حدثنا جرير عن مغيرة عن الشعبي عن عثمان بن يسار عن تميم بن (حَذْلَم) (١) قال: أول (ما) (٢) سلم على أمير بالكوفة بالإمرة، قال: خرج المغيرة بن شعبة من القصر فعرض له رجل من كندة فسلم عليه بالإمرة، فقال: ما هذا؟ ما أنا إلا رجل منهم، فتركت زمانا ثم أقرها بعد (٣).
Hazrat Tamim bin Hazlam narrates that the first time the greeting of "Amarat" (governorship) was given to the governor of Kufa. It happened that Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu'bah came out of the palace, and a man from the tribe of Kindah greeted him with the salutation of "Amarat." He expressed displeasure at this and said, "What is this? I am just a man among you." After that, such a greeting was abandoned, but in later times, it was resumed.
