Hadith 3838
٣٨٣٨ - حدثنا أبو خالد الأحمر عن ابن عجلان عن زيد بن أسلم عن أبي صالح عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبّروُا، وَإذَا قَرَأ فَأَنْصِتُوا" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The Imam is appointed so that he may be followed; when he says the takbeer, you should also say the takbeer, and when he recites (the Qur'an), you should remain silent.
