Hadith 37893
٣٧٨٩٣ - حدثنا يحيى بن آدم عن سفيان عن عاصم قال: قلنا لطلق بن حبيب: صف لنا التقوى، قال: التقوى عمل بطاعة اللَّه رجاء رحمة اللَّه على نور من اللَّه، والتقوى ترك معصية اللَّه نحافة (١) اللَّه على نور من اللَّه (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Asim that he said: We said to Hazrat Talq bin Habib, "Tell us about Taqwa (piety)." He replied: "Taqwa is acting in obedience to Allah, hoping for His mercy and in the light of His guidance. And Taqwa is to abandon disobedience to Allah out of fear of Him and because of the light of His guidance."
