٣٧٨٥٥ - حدثنا عفان (قال) (١): حدثنا حماد بن سلمة قال: أخبرنا (ثابت) (٢) (أن) (٣) مطرف بن عبد اللَّه قال: لو (كانت) (٤) لي نفسان لقدمت إحداهما (قبل) (٥) الأخرى، (فإن) (٦) هجمت على خير اتبْعتُها الأخرى، وإلا (أمسكتها) (٧)، ولكن إنما هي نفس واحدة، لا أدري (علام) (٨) تهجم: خير أم شر؟.
Hazrat Mutarrif bin Abdullah says: If I had two souls, I would send one ahead of the other. If it reached goodness, I would send the other after it; otherwise, I would hold the second one back. But there is only one soul. I do not know whether it will reach goodness or evil?
