Hadith 37668
٣٧٦٦٨ - حدثنا ابن فضيل عن عطاء عن أبي (البختري) (١) في قوله: ﴿اتَّخَذُوا أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَانَهُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ﴾ [التوبة: ٣١]، قال: أطاعوهم فيما أمروهم به من (تحريم حلال وتحليل حرام) (٢)، (٣) (فعبدوهم) (٤) بذلك.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu’l-Bakhtari regarding the Divine command { اتَّخَذُوا أَحْبَارَہُمْ وَرُہْبَانَہُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِنْ دُونِ اللہِ }. He says: Those people would obey them in making unlawful what was lawful, and likewise, in making lawful what was unlawful, they would obey them. In this way, those people worshipped them.
